24th April 2010 - Chichester Peregrines

After a fairly uneventful day, with a selection of sightings of the peregrines on the cathedral, a young upstart decided to invade!

The male had been sitting on guard, and avidly watching the skies around, when all of a sudden, the invading peregrine swept in. He was seen off in an instant by the male after a brief clash mid-air. I was lucky to get a whole series of images of the battle, of which these a just a few..

It turns out (from identifying the ring number on the other birds leg) that he is a male, who was born last year on a tower block in Brighton. He is likely to be searching for a patch of his own, to hopefully start breeding in a couple of years time. He certainly didn't receive a warm welcome here!
